Overview

A man from the clients of the Barmakids, who appeared in their time and knew the meanings and forms of script. 1

What is said of him

He spoke on the conventions and rules of script and divided it into kinds, and he used to write the binding letters from the sultan to the kings of the frontiers on the long scrolls. 1

Ibn al-Nadim describes him as having reached the peak of the craft and of filth, yet as generous and never mean with anything. 1

The museum's data do not record his name or the year of his death, which need an additional source.
