Overview
Al-Abbas ibn al-Hasan, vizier of the caliph al-Muqtadir, who was killed in the events of the deposition of al-Muqtadir in 296 AH.
Vizierate and deposition
The sources say that al-Muqtadir came to the caliphate at the age of thirteen, and al-Abbas thought him too young and worked to depose him with a group who wanted to install Abd Allah ibn al-Mu'tazz. When al-Muqtadir learned of it, he mended matters and gave al-Abbas money that satisfied him. 2
His killing
Al-Mas'udi relates that al-Husayn ibn Hamdan, Wasif and others rose against him and killed him, and killed Fatik with him, in Rabi al-Awwal 296 AH. 3
In Ibn al-Athir, al-Husayn ibn Hamdan, Badr al-Mu'tadidi and Wasif caught up with him as he was going to one of his orchards, and they killed him on the road. 4
