Summary
Ahmed al-Sayyid Ahmed Sbei is an Egyptian comparative-religion researcher from Giza, born in about 1405 AH / 1985 CE to a Muslim family; he was raised and educated there and still lives and writes there. He is the founder and supervisor of the YouTube channel Al-Bayyinah, for comparative religion and answering doubts. 1 2
His work in comparative religion
He learned Hebrew in order to read his opponents' books in the original rather than in translation, and added to it the tools of textual criticism, the study of manuscripts and the history of translations; he was a founding member of the Old Testament textual-criticism blog. The published biographies describe him as a researcher, lecturer and writer in comparative religion holding a bachelor's degree in Hebrew language. 1 3
The Al-Bayyinah channel
He founded the Al-Bayyinah channel on YouTube in 2014; in his own narration of the channel's story he dates its first video to 16 August 2014 and its output to about 430 videos by January 2020. The channel's description states that Ahmed Sbei founded it and supervises it, and that its aim is to demonstrate the truth of Islam and the falsity of other religions. Platform statistics recorded 1,089,752 subscribers, 589 videos and 95,026,430 views for the channel on 25 October 2026 — dated platform figures that change constantly. 2
This is the Arabic Al-Bayyinah channel of comparative religion, not the English-language Bayyinah Institute channel of Nouman Ali Khan. 2
Detention and release
Sbei recounts that his last video on the channel was on 2 January 2020 and that he was barred from travel in the same month. The Al-Mrj3 biography records that he was arrested in 2020 and later released with a group of detainees, and the Alsiyars encyclopedia records that he came out without a proven charge or a verdict. 3 1 2
