Overview
Ahmad ibn al-Mudabbir, appointed by the caliph al-Muhtadi over the land-tax of Palestine. 1
Al-Mas'udi says he had seven boon companions whom he found no pleasure without, each of whom was expert in a kind of learning. He relates his well-known episode with Ibn Duraj al-Tufayli, who entered his session dressed as one of his boon companions and out-did them at chess, backgammon, the lute and the tanbur, until he struck his chamberlain with fifty lead pellets fired from a pellet-bow. 1
His birth and death are not set out here and need an additional source.
