Overview

Afridun, a figure from the old Persian accounts, related by al-Mas'udi. He led the people in war against Dahhak of the two mouths, and they raised a banner of leather which the Persians call "Drafsh Kawyan". He seized Dahhak and bound him in Mount Dunbawand. 2

He appointed his son Tuj over the Turks and Salm over the Romans. Al-Mas'udi answers those who claim that the Turks are descended from Tuj, saying that if they were his sons he would not have made him their ruler. 2

This account is of legendary origin and needs an additional source.
