Overview

Abu Mikhnaf Lut ibn Yahya, a Kufan akhbari and the author of books on the campaigns and the civil wars. Al-Mas'udi counts him among those he relied on in estimating the dead at Siffin. 1

Al-Mas'udi relates from him, from al-Haytham ibn Adi and from al-Sharqi ibn al-Qutami, the estimate of seventy thousand from both sides. 1

For more on his life, see also Abu Mikhnaf. That entry may be the same person; confirming it needs an additional source.
