Overview
Abu Khazim, a judge whom al-Suyuti mentions in "History of the Caliphs" in his account of al-Mu'tadid. 1
His stand before al-Mu'tadid
The caliph sent to him that a man owed money to him, and that his creditors had proved it before him. Abu Khazim replied that the Commander of the Faithful recalled what he had said when he appointed him, that he had taken the matter off his own neck and put it on his, and that it is not lawful to rule on a man's property for a claimant except by evidence. 1
The two witnesses refused to testify out of fear, and nothing was handed to al-Mu'tadid. 1
