Overview

Abu al-Futuh al-Hasan ibn Ja'far al-Alawi, lord of Mecca. Al-Suyuti says that he called people to himself, took the title al-Rashid billah, and was greeted with the caliphate; then his affair weakened and he returned to the obedience of the Fatimid al-Hakim. 2

Ibn al-Jawzi mentions his rising in the events of 401 AH, while al-Suyuti places it earlier, in 381 AH. The date remains disputed between the two sources. 3
