Summary

Sheikh Omar Abdelkafy relates that when Abu al-Dahdah heard God's words about lending to Him, he lent his orchard to God, then called to his wife: Umm al-Dahdah, bring your children out, for we have lent this orchard to God, Lord of the worlds. 1 2

High resolve

The Sheikh comments on the account, 'look at this resolve', and contrasts it with those raised on love of the world rather than love of religion; this is his view. 3 4

Effects of sin (athar al-maasi)

Sheikh Omar Abdelkafy lists the effects of disobedience: darkness in the face, emptiness in people's hearts, and lack of contentment with God. He sets against them the effects of obedience, such as light in the face and love in people's hearts, and says that sins take away blessings. He holds that one should look at the greatness of the One disobeyed, not at the smallness of the sin.
