Overview

Abd Allah ibn Wahb al-Rasibi was, according to al-Mas'udi, the first imam whom the Kharijites gave allegiance to for themselves. They gathered around him with four thousand men and went to al-Mada'in, and killed Abd Allah ibn Khabbab, the agent of Ali there; al-Mas'udi says they slaughtered him and ripped open the belly of his pregnant wife. 2

Then they camped at Nahrawan in 38 AH, and their end was at al-Rumaylah, as al-Mas'udi reports Ali's words to his companions. 3
