Overview

Abd Allah ibn al-Ahmar, a poet whom al-Mas'udi mentions in the account of the Tawwabun; he urged them to rise and to fight. 2

His poetry

He lamented al-Husayn ibn Ali (may God be pleased with him) and blamed his Shi'a for staying away from him. Among the lines al-Mas'udi quotes are a poem that begins with clear weather and the farewell to youth, and another in which he prays for rain on the grave of al-Husayn. 2 The dates and lineage are not available here and need an additional source.
