Overview
Abd al-Aziz ibn Musa ibn Nusayr, son of Musa ibn Nusayr. He took over al-Andalus after his father returned from it, and made Seville his seat. He secured its authority, guarded its frontiers and conquered many cities, and he was among the best of its governors, though his term did not last long. 2
The army turned on him after 95 AH, in the caliphate of Sulayman, and killed him over matters they held against him. Among them, they claimed that he had married the wife of Roderic, called Umm Asim, and his head was brought to Sulayman. 3 Al-Salabi notes that the people of Seville rose during his father's siege of Merida, and that his son retook it and then conquered Lablah and Wabba. 4 He also says that some of his own soldiers killed him treacherously at the beginning of Rajab 97 AH. 5
The two accounts differ on the year of his death (95 AH or 97 AH), and this needs an additional source.
