Summary

Yahya said: I heard Malik say: the matter I heard from people of knowledge is that a sick person whose illness makes fasting hard, and so exhausts him that it reaches him, may break his fast. Likewise a sick person for whom standing in prayer is hard may pray seated; God's religion is easy. Malik supports this by arguing that God allowed the traveller to break his fast, though he is stronger for fasting than the sick, saying: whoever of you is sick or on a journey, a number of other days (Al-Baqara Al-Baqara 184). The editor notes that Abu Musab transmitted it from Malik. 1
