Summary
Malik said of a contract slave whom his master freed at death: if the dead man's third cannot bear him, a part of him equal to what the third can bear is freed, and that much of the contract is remitted from him. For example: if the contract slave owes five thousand dirhams, his value in cash is two thousand dirhams, and the dead man's third is a thousand dirhams, half of him is freed and half of the contract is remitted. 1
