Summary
Malik said of a contract slave who dies leaving an umm walad and young children by her or by another, who are not strong enough to earn their payments and whose inability is feared: their father's umm walad is sold if her price suffices to pay all their contract, because their father did not prevent her sale when he feared inability. If her price does not suffice, and neither she nor they are strong enough to earn, they all revert to being slaves to their master. 1
