Summary
Malik said of a contract of manumission slave held by two men, one of whom settles with him with his partner's permission, then the one who keeps the slave in servitude collects the same as his partner settled for, or more, and then the contract slave becomes unable: the slave is between them, because he collected his right. If he collected less than what the settling partner took, and the settler wishes to return half of the excess to his partner, the slave is between them in halves; if he refuses, the whole slave belongs to the one who did not settle. 1
