Summary
Malik said: the agreed practice among us is that it is not proper for a master of a contract of manumission slave to have someone guarantee the contract for his slave, if the slave dies or becomes unable; because the contract is not a fixed debt that can be guaranteed. If the contract slave becomes unable, he returns to his master as a slave; if he dies owing a debt, his master does not share with the creditors in his contract, and the creditors have a better right to his property than the master. 1
