Summary
A report of al-Mughira ibn Shu'ba in the Book of the Prayer of Travellers, in Sahih Muslim: the Prophet ﷺ stood in the night until his feet swelled, and when asked answered, "Shall I not be a grateful servant?" It is the root of worship as thanks, not as a way of seeking forgiveness. 1
