Summary
Its aims
The label set out to give musicians from around the world access to modern studios and audiences beyond their regions, and to turn the musical relationships formed at WOMAD festivals into new recordings; its first five albums included Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's Shahen-Shah. 1 By 1999 it had sold over 3 million records across 90 albums, and by 2015 it had passed 200 albums. 1
In the museum
It released Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's collaborations with Michael Brook, Mustt Mustt, Night Song and Star Rise, his The Last Prophet (1994) and the posthumous Dust to Gold. 1 3 The source says nothing of its founders' faith, and the museum infers none.
