Overview

Lamta are branches of the veiled Sanhaja (Sanhaja), and are brothers of Lamtuna, Jaddala and Gaddala, according to Ibn Khaldun. 1

Their homelands

Their homeland was the southern desert between Sijilmasa and the lands of the Sudan. Together with their cousins they were the people of the routes and the caravans between the desert and the Maghrib. Over generations they submitted to the states of the veiled peoples and the Almoravids. 1
