Overview
Hashid is one of the two great wings of Hamdan, and a brother of Bakil. Its lineage is Hashid ibn Jusham ibn Hibran ibn Nawf ibn Hamdan. 2
Al-Hamdani, who was himself one of them, describes their lands: from the first of their country, La'a, south of Sana'a, to Khiwan and the borders of Sa'da. He says that it is "the most secure and mighty of the dwellings of Yemen", a journey of six days. They had old markets from the pre-Islamic period, the first of which was the market of Qabl and Qamal, the market of Safir, and the market of Qatabba. 2
