Salih's end in al-Mas'udi

al-Mas'udi reports that Musa ibn Bugha feared that Salih would plot against them while he was in hiding, so he sent spies in search of him until they found him. Salih fought and resisted, and was then killed and his head was cut off. In another report, a bath was heated for him and he died in it. 2

The two reports come from different sources, and the authority cited here does not combine them into a single account. The chronological order needs an additional source.
