Overview
The Day of Shi'b Jabala is one of the days of the Arabs shortly before Islam, between the Banu Tamim and the Banu Kilab and their people. Laqit ibn Zurara witnessed it on the side of Tamim and al-Rabab. 1
The account
al-Baladhuri, in "Ansab al-Ashraf", relates that Laqit came on a brocade-covered brown horse, with a gilded saddle of the saddles of Khosrow, and he was the first Arab to be covered in brocade. Then a duel took place between him and Shurayh ibn al-Ahwas. Laqit's horse plunged over the bank, and Shurayh stabbed him so that he fell wounded. He died while mentioning his wife Dukhtanus, daughter of al-Nu'man, and the Banu Abs struck him after he was dead. 1
