Overview

In 985 a star with a great tail — very long, bright-rayed — rose and kept rising for about two months; al-Suyuti records in Tahsin al-Muhadara that the astrologers tell of the tailed star appearing at Cain's killing of Abel, at the Flood, at Abraham's fire, at 'Ad and Thamud's destruction, on the day of Badr, and at the killings of 'Uthman and 'Ali 1.
