Japan and Muslim hopes after 1904

In the chapter on the Islamic union, Shakib Arslan presents how the Muslims followed Japan's victory over Russia in 1904, and how they took hope from it. ¹

He relays from Egyptian newspapers and from a Chinese sheikh their view that the Islam of Japan might change the course of Islamic politics. He mentions that Japan received an Islamic delegation with warmth, but showed no wish to enter Islam. ¹

Arslan holds that the lasting effect was the consolidation of friendly relations between the Muslim peoples and the non-Muslim peoples of Asia. This is as the author reports it from the newspapers and assemblies, and it is not evidence of Japan's intentions. ¹

The newspaper and the Chinese sheikh are reported second-hand, and the Ottoman delegation needs independent material with dates from a Japanese or Turkish source. It needs a further source.
