Summary
In an episode of his series "Al Fawzu Al Moubeen", Sheikh Omar Abdelkafy considers rights and duties. He holds that the loss of rights prevents success, and observes that people press their claims more readily than they look for their own duties. 1 He holds that a person should discharge what he owes before claiming what is his own, that God honours the servant who is made to understand the rights of others, and that reflecting on rights according to one's roles in life is a first step towards success. 2 3
The speaker's view: rights and duties as the path to success
The Sheikh notes that people demand their rights and do not seek out their duties. He holds that the ease of the religion is one of its most prominent features, and that rights and duties together are the way to success. 1

The Sheikh holds that God honours the servant whom He makes understand the rights of others, and that a person must discharge what he owes before he asks for what is due to him. 2
The speaker's view: discharging duties before making claims
The Sheikh holds that a person must fulfil the rights that others have over him before he demands his own, and he invites the viewer to reflect on this. 4
The speaker's view: recognising the Prophet's right in everyday conduct
The Sheikh asks how far we acknowledge the Prophet ﷺ's right over us. He criticises the conduct of young people who speed on the roads, and the harm this brings to themselves and to others. 5
The speaker's view: money gained without right
The Sheikh asks who is obliged to return money that his father took unlawfully. He holds that this runs against the desires of the soul, but that trust that good lies in charity and reconciliation makes it easier to bear. 6
Rights by role in life
The Sheikh invites the viewer to reflect on what others are owed by him according to his role: as a son, a father, a husband, a neighbour, an employer, an employee, a citizen, and a passer-by on the road. He counts this as a first step towards success. 3
