Hassan ibn Thabit

A grown-up reads you the short text; the longer one you read yourself.

Hassan ibn Thabit (may God be pleased with him) was the Prophet ﷺ's poet and the poet of Islam from the Ansar. The Prophet set up a pulpit for him in the mosque to defend him and satirize the polytheists, telling him 'Satirize them — the Holy Spirit is with you.' He lived long and died in Medina at about a hundred and twenty.

Abu al-Walid Hassan ibn Thabit (may God be pleased with him) ibn al-Mundhir al-Najjari al-Ansari, the Prophet ﷺ's poet and the poet of Islam, the knight of rhymes defending the call. The Prophet set up a pulpit for him in the Prophet's mosque where he stood defending him and satirizing the polytheists — 'Satirize them; the Holy Spirit is with you'; his poetry is a diwan of the sira, the Ansar's campaigns and laments for their martyrs like Hamza and those of Mu'ta. Ibn Ishaq tells he was absent when Banu Tamim's delegation boasted before the Prophet, who sent for him; he composed verses on the way, then the Prophet stood him up to answer al-Zibriqan with 'The remaining of Fihr and their brothers', and al-Aqra' ibn Habis ruled the Muslims' poet the better. He lived long and died in Medina late in Mu'awiya's era at about a hundred and twenty.
