السلطان سليم شاه بن عثمان
A grown-up reads you the short text; the longer one you read yourself.
Selim I, sultan of the Ottoman state, son of Bayezid II. Jaramard al-Nasiri, al-Suyuti's pupil, calls him 'the calamity of the ninth century' — for his wars with his brothers and their sons, then his fighting the lord of the east and entering Egypt after Marj Dabiq where its sultan Qansuh al-Ghawri fell; he says Egypt had not suffered the like since it became an abode of Islam. He died on the ninth of Shawwal 926 AH at fifty-four, after a reign of nine years and eight months.
