Abd Allah ibn Amir

A grown-up reads you the short text; the longer one you read yourself.

Abdullah ibn Amir al-Qurashi al-Abshami, nephew of Uthman ibn Affan (may God be pleased with him)'s mother; Uthman made him governor of Basra in 29 AH and he opened all Khurasan and the fringes of Fars, Sijistan and Kirman.

Abdullah ibn Amir al-Qurashi, Uthman ibn Affan (may God be pleased with him)'s nephew on his mother's side; the historians count him among those who wrote the truce between Taif and the people of al-Hayya. Al-Waqidi calls him one of Quraysh's chiefs, generous, brave and cheerful; Uthman made him governor of Basra after Abu Musa in 29 AH, joining Fars to him — he opened all Khurasan and the fringes of Fars, Sijistan and Kirman as far as the Gaza district, and in his governorship Yazdajird, Persia's last king, fell. He entered ihram from Nishapur in thanks, brought great wealth Uthman rebuked him for, and divided it among Quraysh and the Ansar. He first made Arafa's pools and brought the spring to them. When Uthman fell he carried his wealth to Mecca and joined Abu Talha and al-Zubayr; al-Haytham says he died in eighty-odd AH, al-Tabari's Dhayl in eighty-five.
