The pause of revelation (Fatra)
A grown-up reads you the short text; the longer one you read yourself.
The pause of revelation: the revelation's ceasing after its first descent at Hira. The Raheeq prefers Ibn Sa'd's report from Ibn Abbas that it was days, and holds the famed three years or two and a half unsound; then Gabriel came to him a second time with the opening of Surat al-Muddaththir. He spent the pause sorrowful and grieving, puzzlement and wonder coming over him; the author retails Bukhari's report that his grief sent him out time after time to throw himself down from the mountain peaks, and each time he reached a summit Gabriel appeared telling him he was truly God's messenger, so his breast calmed and he returned.
